The focal point of volunteer work at the “Transfiguration” Center for Social Adaptation in Dnipro is the kitchen. Here, lunches are prepared daily for over 150 people.
Around 30 of them are residents of the “House of Diligence” established by the Center. This is where people facing difficult life circumstances and with no one to turn to for help find a new lease on life. Among them are people with various degrees of disability, displaced persons, and veterans.
The Center not only organizes activities for those under its care to help them reintegrate themselves into society, develop skills, and find new opportunities — it also provides them with three full meals a day. In total, the Center is designed to accommodate 40 aid recipients at a time.
In addition, for the past 5 years, volunteers from the Center have been distributing lunches to those in need in the Novokodatsky district of Dnipro — the city’s largest district. A vehicle goes out to food distribution points once every day. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, it makes two trips: in the morning and at lunchtime. Each distribution provides between 120 and 140 portions. Each portion includes soup, a main course, and bread. Everything, including freshly baked bread, is prepared in the Center’s kitchen.
This initiative began before the full‑scale war, and has become incredibly important since it started. People wait for the volunteers at designated locations every day.
However, recently, due to a lack of electricity at the Center, the volunteers were only able to prepare soup…
Not long ago, thanks to caring donors, we were able to help the Center acquire a modern backup power system (an inverter and battery modules). However, to ensure truly uninterrupted operation of the kitchen — including the refrigerators — solar panels are needed. Installing them will ensure the independence and cost-efficiency of the Center’s power system, as electricity supply from the central grid is now unreliable and the bills for it are quite high.
Installing the panels will ensure stable operation not only of the kitchen, but of the entire facility with its many functions.
