In May of 2022, as a result of military operations the right-bank sector of the city of Sviatohirsk, where the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra is located, was cut off from the power grid. Since then the monastery, which has given shelter to many refugees, has relied solely on diesel generators for power.
There are currently over 200 refugees living at the Lavra: the majority are families with children, the elderly, and invalids. Practically all the monastery’s generators have reached the end of their service life. Because of this, there are constant interruptions in the electrical power supply, which leads to shutdowns of the boiler system and other problems.
Тhe administration of the Lavra turned to the Charity Foundation “Revival of Svyatohirya” with a request to acquire a new 120 kW diesel generator system. This will be capable of fully supplying power for the monastery until such time as delivery of power from the grid can be reestablished via the bridge over the Severskii Donets River.
This request is particularly urgent at present, since the heating season is not yet over.
The “Revival of Svyatohirya” Foundation inaugurates the implementation of the “Light and Heat” Program and announces the collection of funds for the purchase of a diesel generator for the Sviatohirsk Lavra.
