Six‑year‑old Melania Apanasova is from Kurakhovо. Currently, she lives with her parents and two older school‑age brothers in the village of Tsybly, Kyiv Oblast. The family was compelled to flee their home and relocate due to the ongoing war.
When Melania was 1 year and 10 months old, she was admitted to the hospital for the first time. Doctors found that she had suffered from perinatal damage to the central nervous system. This included hypoxic‑ischemic encephalopathy and a congenital brain condition — dysgenesis of the corpus callosum — as well as other problems.
In 2024, Melania was also diagnosed with dyskinetic cerebral palsy, cognitive impairments, selective mutism, and other conditions.
For nearly 5 years now, Melania has been undergoing medical and rehabilitation procedures. They need to be carried out regularly in order to prevent a setback in the fight against the disease.
Soon Melania should start a new rehabilitation course, but her parents can’t afford it. Their money has run out — the family’s financial resources are completely exhausted.
