Evgeny Redchits is 47 years old. Even as a child, he found it difficult to run long distances. Later it turned out that this was not just fatigue. After the age of 25, the young man began to notice that he tired too quickly during physical activity. Then he started experiencing weakness in his limbs (primarily in his legs), which, among other things, made it impossible to get up from a sitting position without using his hands.
Evgeny sought medical assistance at the hospital in Kramatorsk, where he was diagnosed with Kugelberg-Welander spinal muscular atrophy.
This is a rare genetic neuromuscular disorder that, if left untreated, gradually deprives a person of the ability to hold objects and move independently. To prevent the disease from progressing, Evgeny must undergo regular examinations and inpatient treatment courses, which help stabilize his condition. Additionally, he needs to constantly take expensive medications.
Due to his illness, Evgeny was assigned Group II disability. He also suffers from a stomach condition – chronic erosive gastroduodenitis.
