Tamara Sergeevna Pyrikova is over eighty years old, and for twelve of those years she has been a displaced person. In the summer of 2014 she lost her home to the fighting, left her native Gorlovka, and has since lived in a place of residence for displaced people in Svyatohirsk.

Since 2013 she has been living with type 2 diabetes and needs insulin every day. As a complication of the disease, she has developed diabetic angiopathy of the lower limbs and encephalopolyneuropathy.

These health issues are compounded by diseases of the heart and other organs: coronary heart disease, atherosclerotic cardiosclerosis with a right bundle branch block, hypertension, deforming osteoarthritis of the joints of both feet, and chronic cholecystopancreatitis. Her condition requires constant medical attention and daily medication.
