In addition to monks, more than 200 residents of the surrounding area, including about 20 children, currently live in the Svyatogorsk Lavra. These people lost their homes during shelling and are now fully supported by the monastery. Half of them are pensioners.

Refugees are provided with free accommodation, medical care and meals. Additionally, the Lavra provides food and other assistance not only to those who live on its premises, but also to all those who turn to the monastery for help.

The boiler houses of the Svyatogorsk monastery work all year round to provide the monastery complex with hot water. In summer, about 2 tons of coal are used per day. And in winter, when it is also necessary to heat the buildings of the Lavra, from 3 to 6 tons of coal are used per day. About 1,300 tons of coal are consumed in the monastery during one heating season.

The boilers installed in the Lavra's boiler houses are not technologically adapted to run on cheaper fuel – heating briquettes. Coal is needed for their operation. The average cost of 1 ton of coal is 10 thousand hryvnias.

In view of how much money is needed to provide the Lavra with heat during the winter, the Svyatohirya Revival Foundation announces a collection for the purchase of coal for the 2024-2025 heating season for the Svyatogorsk monastery right now, long before the onset of cold weather.

Let’s make sure that the inhabitants of the Svyatogorsk Lavra are not left without heat!
