Diagnoses: cirrhosis of the liver (requires transplantation), hepatosplenomegaly, iron deficiency anemia, platelet deficiency, leukopenia, esophageal and intestinal varices

The first time Sergey Romanenko (born June 13, 1992) went to the hospital was at the age of 17. A sharp pain in the side - and a few hours later the young man was on the operating table. Doctors of the municipal hospital in Yenakievo diagnosed acute gangrenous-perforative appendicitis with diffuse peritonitis. Two weeks later followed a second operation: major surgery to eliminate a developed complication – adhesions of the intestine, which caused acute intestinal obstruction.

Afterwards, the young man began to feel lethargy, exhaustion, and then joint pain, weight loss.

The first symptoms of liver problems occurred in 2010. It seemed that youth would get the better of them. But in 2012 Sergey decided to be examined. The diagnoses: cholecystitis, erosive bulbitis. In 2014, an enlargement of the liver and spleen was found, as well as enlargement of the splenic vein. At the same time, the young man suffered from giardiasis. Since then, he has been regularly examined in hospitals in Kramatorsk and Kharkiv.

In 2015 he was diagnosed with a new disease: chronic hepatitis (A3) of unspecified etiology with transition to cirrhosis (F3). As the fibrotest results showed, the liver was already 58% affected.

Examination results in 2016 confirmed advanced cirrhosis and spleen problems.

The fight against diseases continues. Now Sergey is in line for a liver transplant and undergoes inpatient treatment at the O. O. Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology. Fibrotic lesion of the liver at the moment is already 85%.

The Charity Foundation "Revival of Svyatohirya" announces a fundraiser for the acquisition of medicines necessary for Sergey’s treatment.
