Lidiia Ivanivna Horbova has lived far from home for more than ten years. In the summer of 2014, fleeing the war, she left the town of Torez in the Donetsk region and found shelter at a settlement for displaced people in Sviatohirsk. She lost her home, and almost all of her belongings and documents — including her medical records — were destroyed in an explosion.
Life has spared this lonely woman little. She has a first-degree disability: rheumatoid polyarthritis has locked her joints and taken away her freedom of movement, and osteoporosis is wearing down her bones. These health issues are compounded by diseases of the heart — coronary heart disease, cardiosclerosis and a heart-rhythm disorder — and by chronic bronchial asthma that makes every breath a struggle. Twice, in 2014 and 2023, she suffered a stroke.
Keeping all of these conditions under control requires constant medical attention, but this lonely elderly woman has no money for the medicines she needs. We urge you not to remain indifferent. Each donation brings Lidiia Ivanivna one step closer to feeling better and knowing that someone cares.
